Chapman University is proud to have been strongly represented in the prestigious 2023 American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference. The Attallah College of Educational Studies\u2019 faculty, staff, and alumni showcased its expertise in 36 meetings, panels, and paper and poster presentations during the conference. Furthermore, faculty and staff members earned recognition through four awards presented at the annual event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Doug Havard<\/b> (Education Ph.D., 2022), who is Coordinator of Attallah College’s SNU Ph.D. Program, was awarded the <\/span>Advanced Studies of National Databases SIG’s 2023 Outstanding Dissertation Award<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Margie Curwen<\/b> and <\/span>Dr. Kevin Stockbridge<\/b> were among the authors who received the <\/span>Outstanding Article in Systems Thinking in Education Award.<\/span><\/a> The Outstanding Article Award recognizes exemplary research that contributes to systems thinking in education literature in meaningful and innovative ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Freirean Echoes: Scholars & Practitioners Dialogue on Critical Ideas in Education” has received a Society of Professors of Education Outstanding Book Award that was presented at AERA. Congratulations to <\/span>Dr. Charlotte Achieng-Evensen, Dr. Kevin Stockbridge, <\/b>and <\/span>Dr. Suzanne SooHoo<\/b>, Professor Emerita, on this distinguished recognition. The <\/span>Society of Professors of Education<\/span><\/a>, established in 1902, provides a forum for addressing the issues facing the discipline and vocation of education.<\/span><\/p>\n
