Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing today’s world and is driven in large part by the widespread burning of fossil fuels. Today, 60% of electricity is generated from fossil fuels, much of which is used by everyday individuals. Unfortunately, poor energy habits lead to a substantial portion of the average American’s energy consumption being used unnecessarily. Our app, Ecotasks, seeks to bring consumer awareness to these poor energy habits in a fun and engaging way. Daily reinforcement and a competitive leaderboard encourage users to adopt our energy saving tasks into their daily routine. This not only helps the fight against climate change but saves the user money that would otherwise go to wasted electricity. Through our initial testing, 50% of users believed our app could encourage better habits and 100% said they would recommend it to a friend. Based on this data we believe, with some slight improvements, our app could help make a lasting impact.<\/p>\n
