{"id":813,"date":"2021-08-18T12:42:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T12:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/gci\/2021\/08\/18\/gci-team-wins-the-2021-kevin-and-tam-ross-undergraduate-research-prize\/"},"modified":"2021-08-18T12:42:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T12:42:33","slug":"gci-team-wins-the-2021-kevin-and-tam-ross-undergraduate-research-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/gci\/2021\/08\/18\/gci-team-wins-the-2021-kevin-and-tam-ross-undergraduate-research-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"GCI Team Wins the 2021 Kevin and Tam Ross Undergraduate Research Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grand Challenges Initiative (GCI) students Heather Andrini, Ashley Okhovat, and Sydni Au Hoy (l. to r. above) have been awarded the 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.chapman.edu\/undergraduateresearchprize\/\">Kevin and Tam Ross Undergraduate Research Prize<\/a> hosted by The Leatherby Libraries.<\/p>\n<p>Heather, Ashley, and Sydni started working on their project,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.chapman.edu\/undergraduateresearchprize\/28\">\u201cPsychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures Disorder: Treatment after the Diagnostic Odyssey\u201d<\/a> as the focus of their efforts in their GCI courses. They continued their efforts beyond the GCI, forming a collaboration with Dr. Juliana Lockman, an expert in psychogenic non-epileptic seizures based at Stanford University, to bring new breadth and depth to their research. They recently presented their findings, a case study focused on the challenges of diagnosis and treatment of this unusual phenomenon, at the American Neuropsychiatric Association Conference in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the prize is an honor, but it is not where this research journey will end.
