They’re hitting the books, cramming on trivia  and hoping  there’s not a question about the Twilight vampire series because they don’t know a thing about Bella or Edward.

President Doti and Jerry Price, dean of students, are prepping  to go head-to-head with student teams in Chapman Jeopardy on Feb. 8 (Monday) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Argyros Forum Dining Hall.  The challenge, a first for Chapman, features a bunch of prizes for students, who are being encouraged to register and take the College Jeopardy qualifying test for the big TV game show.

–Winning teams receive a $100 bookstore gift card
–First 20 students who come to the Chapman challenge and show proof they registered for the qualifying test get a $10 Jamba Juice card.
–Any student who qualifies and is selected for a TV appearance on College Jeopardy 2010 will win a $5,000 scholarship from Chapman University.
–Free pizza and beverages at the challenge!

Questions are being generated by Chapman sophomore Matt McMahon, a quiz bowl veteran from northern Virgina who is studying  history and  economics at the Economic Science Institute. McMahon will moderate the challenge.

Student teams of four should sign up at the Dean of Students Office in AF 101.  (If you are a student or sending this to a student, CLICK HERE to register for TV’s College Jeopardy qualifying test! There will be computers at the Chapman event so students also can register for the test at the event.)

Oh, and students —  watch out for any category titled “black-and-white movies.” A certain university president is an expert at ’em!
