Chancellor Daniele Struppa and several
Chapman University
faculty members hosted a delegation of officials from
Ewha Womans University
in South Korea here on Saturday. Leading the delegation from South Korea was Bae-Yong Lee, university president.

During their Chapman visit, delegation members toured the Sandhu Residence and Conference Center, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and the Chapman School of Law. At the luncheon that followed, potential exchanges of faculty and staff and “global education” projects were discussed. Chapman already enjoys one such link. Seon Ki Park, Ph.D., is a visiting professor here, working in the Schmid College of Science on climate change/modeling efforts.

The luncheon was attended by Menas Kafatos, Ph.D., dean of Schmid College; Susan Yang, Ph.D., professor, Department of Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, Schmid College, and director of International Science Programs; Dean Scott Howe, interim dean for the School of law; James Coyle, director of the Center for Global Education; and Professor Emeritus Kenneth Tye, Ph.D., College of Educational Studies. Dr. Tye visited Ewha in 1996 to give a presentation there on global education, and so was especially pleased to see Chapman building a connection with the university.

Ewha, a private university in Seoul established in 1886 as a mission school, is considered one of the world’s most prestigious universities.  It has a combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment of nearly 20,000, making it the world’s largest women’s university.
