The Nocturnes in performance at Disneyland.

Get your Gidget and Moondoggie vibes ready. Chapman University’s Free Family-Friendly Summer Concert Series kicks off Friday, July 29, with picnicking on the Attallah Piazza and the legendary surf rock band,
The Nocturnes
, on the Wells Fargo Stage.

Enjoy all the surf music energy and classic four-part harmony traditions from the group named “Best Beach & Surf Band” by the Orange County Music Awards. The Nocturnes were one of the top show bands of the 1960s and were regular headliners at Disneyland. After the British invasion, the group disbanded but was reunited in 1999 by the
International Surfing Museum
. Today The Nocturnes include original band members Paul Floodman, Kurt Steinbeck and Bruce McCoy and are once again a mainstay of the Southern California concert scene.

So pack a picnic, or come straight from work – there will be hot dogs, churros, chips, pretzels, popcorn, cookies, Starbucks coffee and cold drinks available for purchase. Event parking is free in the Lastinger Parking Structure. And don’t forget those beach blankets. It’s going to be a beach party!
