‘Moose on the Loose’ playwright to deliver 2012 Musco Lecture in Italian Studies

Actress and playwright Dina Morrone will present the 2012 Musco Lecture in Italian Studies, “Staging  ‘Moose on the Loose’ in L.A.,” on Monday, April 30 at noon in Argyros Forum 208.

Canadian-born Morrone, the daughter of Italian immigrants, has been a fixture on the Los Angeles theatre scene for many years. Because of her bilingual abilities, RAI Television hired her to host a number of culturally informative TV shows. Her sultry voice has been used by the Italian dubbing community to re-voice more than 100 films, narrate documentaries and record animation.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Morrone has been actively involved with various theatre groups, including Theatre West and West End, and continues to work as an actress, voice-over talent and writer. Based on countless short stories Morrone has written over the years, she created a very entertaining and funny one-woman show, “The Italian in Me,” which had its world premiere at the Globe Playhouse in Los Angeles. She garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences for her acting and writing and she was subsequently selected by
reviewplays.com
as one of the Top Ten Best Actresses of 2006.

She was also invited to perform “The Italian in Me” at the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival, Pepperdine University in Malibu, Theatre West – WEST FEST Festival, The Odyssey Theatre, The Italian Cultural Institute, the Feast of San Gennaro in Hollywood, LA Women’s, Highways Theatre, The Santa Monica Playhouse, The Electric Lodge in Venice, Calif. and The Diesel Playhouse, in Toronto, Canada.

Her most recent play, “Moose on the Loose,” a comedy about an Italian family and a Canadian moose, had its world premiere at
Theatre West in Los Angeles

Admission to the lecture is free and open to everyone in the entire Chapman community, as well as the public.
