Don Cardinal, dean of the College of Educational Studies, announces the news of school psychology program accreditation.

Chapman University’s
College of Educational Studies
(CES) has won accreditation by the
International School Psychology Association
(ISPA) for its masters-level and Ph.D. programs in school psychology.

“We are one of the very few to receive this honor worldwide,” said Don Cardinal, Ph.D., dean of CES.  “This accreditation is evidence of our world-class school psychology program in the CES as well as its commitment and meaningful work around the world.  This is a great way to begin 2013 – please join me in congratulating the CES School Psychology team and all who have supported them through this process.”

ISPA commented on its review of Chapman’s programs, “I want to congratulate you on such wonderful examples of programs in school psychology. It was indeed an honor to be a part of this accreditation team. Thank you for your hospitality and personal attention.”

The ISPA accreditation process at Chapman began last May and the final review was prepared in December.  Chapman’s accreditation will be formally announced at the National Association of School Psychologists conference in Seattle in February and then again at the ISPA Colloquium in Porto, Portugal, this July.

ISPA is a non-governmental organization (NGO) officially affiliated to
UNESCO
.  Since its foundation, ISPA has promoted the spread of school psychology, particularly in countries where the profession was not fully established. This process has been facilitated through the ISPA Colloquium, held each year in a different country. This gathering of professionals from around the world has an impact on the development of the profession in the host country as well as providing an important forum for professionals from around the world.  ISPA is strongly committed to improving healthy development and quality of life for children everywhere, and has made children’s human rights a high priority in its international work.
