Do you love or hate the abbreviated and invented language of social media? Embrace it or avoid it?
Either way, bring those thoughts and your lunch to an informal viewing of the TED Talk titled Txting is killing language. JK!!! Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 11:45 a.m. in Argyros Forum 209C. A discussion led by Kelli Fuery, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Communications, and Claudine Jaenichen, associate professor in the Department of Art, will follow the viewing. Cookies and beverages will be served.
Tuesday’s featured TED Talk was originally presented in February by linguist, professor and essayist John McWhorter. The lunchtime program is the first of several scheduled on campus this semester by TEDxChapmanU. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
