Fish Interfaith Center plans a variety of Ash Wednesday services

Chapman University’s Fish Interfaith Center has planned several opportunities for the campus community to observe Ash Wednesday

Editor’s Note: This is an old post from 2015 which still appears in some search engines. The Ash Wednesday events listed here are not scheduled this year.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Chapman University’s Fish Interfaith Center has planned several opportunities for the campus community to observe Ash Wednesday, which in Western Christianity marks the first day of Lent, Feb. 18. Services include:

  • “Ashes in the Piazza,” an alternative Ash Wednesday prayer and meditation station for students, faculty and staff. All are welcome to stop by from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fish Interfaith station in Attallah Piazza for a time of brief prayer and to receive ashes. A second session will be offered from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Fashionables Courtyard of the Fish Interfaith Center.
  • Newman Catholic Fellowship will host an Ash Wednesday Service at noon in the Wallace All Faiths Chapel, and Lenten Evening of Recollection, Wilkinson Founders Chapel, both in the Fish Interfaith Center.
  • The Disciples on Campus Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Wallace All Faiths Chapel.
