In addition to the scholarship award, Avery Bennett ‘20, a peace studies major, and Stephanie Caress ’18, a music and strategic and corporate communications double major, will be eligible for specialized leadership training at an annual four-day conference in November at Heifer International Ranch in Perryville, Ark.

The program is intended to provide leadership development and academic financial support for promising young Christian leaders pursing a liberal arts education. To qualify, recipients must have shown prior leadership in their church, vocation and community.

The Phillips University Legacy Foundation was founded to continue the mission of the Disciples of Christ-affiliated university following its closure in 1998. Since its inception, 154 students have received more than $1.3 million in scholarship assistance.
