Chapman University Climbs to #6 in U.S. News Rankings

Chapman University has risen to #6 in its category in the 2017 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” published by U.S. News & World Report and announced to media today. Among 124 Western regional universities ranked by U.S. News, Chapman moved up one spot.

Chapman was also recognized by U.S. News as one of only two universities in the Western region to be ranked as “Most Innovative.” In that ranking, college presidents, provosts and admissions deans were asked to nominate colleges or universities in their U.S. News Best Colleges ranking category that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities.

“The U.S. News rankings are a good measure of the success Chapman has achieved in providing students with the experiences and global perspectives they need to make a difference in our world,” said Chapman President Daniele Struppa. “The fact that we have moved up one notch in the highly competitive Top Ten of the Western region is a strong testament to the exceptional work of our faculty and students, sound planning and leadership from our board, and the support of our alumni and donors.”

The “America’s Best Colleges” rankings, released by U.S. News & World Report on Sept. 13, provide the most thorough examination of how more than 1,500 of the nation’s four-year schools compare on a set of a dozen indicators of excellence. Among the quality factors measured in the rankings are peer assessment, graduation and student retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

Previously this year, Chapman also received outstanding national rankings from the Princeton Review, Forbes and the Fiske Guide to Colleges.
