Chapman University’s recently remodeled dining commons has been recognized by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) with a Loyal E. Horton Dining Award. The awards celebrate excellence in culinary innovation, menus, presentation and event planning.

Chapman earned a bronze in the Residential Dining Concepts category for the Randall Dining Commons resident dining facility, which also houses the University’s recreational climbing wall. Remodeled in 2016, Randall is a LEED-certified facility focusing on efficiency, wellness and sustainability.

Among the features of the redesign is an open and welcoming floorplan, along with a 100-seat outdoor dining area students can regularly enjoy in the mild California climate.

The dining program is managed by campus dining partner Sodexo, which incorporated its serving stations Simple Servings and Mindful into the remodeled facility. Simple Servings and Mindful are award-winning programs aimed at meeting students’ special dietary needs.
