Around 2:37 P.M. (PDT), Microsoft 365 experienced a massive service outage that impacted users across the nation.  Microsoft stated that the outage affected the following services: Outlook.com, Office.com, Power Platform, Dynamics365, and Microsoft Teams. Chapman University users also experience further access issues with Canvas, Zoom, and G Suite, as the outage impacted our ability to authenticate through Microsoft to these underlying services.

As of 5:05 P.M. (PDT), all services have been successfully rerouted through alternate systems to prevent any further service interruptions. Microsoft will continue to investigate as to the exact cause of the outage, but at this time, all services are operational.  We will update this post as relevant information becomes available.

Because this outage impacted email services, it was challenging for the University to keep students, faculty, and staff update on the issue.  We will use this experience to refi our communication processes for the future.  However, we would like to note that we have a system status page at Chapman.edu/systemstatus that we update whenever there is any system outage, and we encourage you to bookmark this site.
