{"id":1380,"date":"2020-03-12T09:37:03","date_gmt":"2020-03-12T16:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/information-systems\/2020\/03\/12\/microsoft-teams-replacing-skype-for-business\/"},"modified":"2020-03-12T09:37:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-12T16:37:03","slug":"microsoft-teams-replacing-skype-for-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/information-systems\/2020\/03\/12\/microsoft-teams-replacing-skype-for-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Teams Replacing Skype for Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may have already heard the news &#8211; Skype for Business is being retired by Microsoft.\u00a0 Their new tool, Microsoft Teams, has been built from the ground up and provides a significantly improved experience for chat, meetings, and collaboration.\u00a0 \u00a0<strong><em>As an existing Skype for Business user, we\u2019d like you to try using Microsoft Teams for chat as soon as possible.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>Some of the major improvements you\u2019ll notice include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identical experiences and capabilities, regardless of the device you use \u2013 PC, Mac, Mobile<\/li>\n<li>Stop chatting on once device and pick up exactly where you left off on another device<\/li>\n<li>Excellent group chat capabilities \u2013 you can chat with your team, and add additional people with the option of allowing them to see the previous conversation.<\/li>\n<li>Easy-to-join video meetings with options to enable live captions, transcriptions and cloud recordings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Installing Teams<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If Microsoft Teams is not already installed on your computer, you can download and install it yourself by visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-us\/microsoft-teams\/download-app.\">Microsoft App Store<\/a>. \u00a0Alternatively, you can also access Teams from anywhere by logging in at <a href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fteams.microsoft.com%2F&amp;data=02%7C01%7Ceastwood%40chapman.edu%7C5dd2f151b04f4c06e32408d7c098c206%7C809929af2d2545bf9837089eb9cfbd01%7C1%7C0%7C637189634626273108&amp;sdata=0ku4QH1hWWU3g5QyVjUIoQmtMqICNcYUCliXDYM1tmA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">teams.microsoft.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, if you would like assistance with downloading Teams, we&#8217;re happy to help.
