{"id":390,"date":"2016-11-21T09:29:53","date_gmt":"2016-11-21T17:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/information-systems\/2016\/11\/21\/goodbye-paper-course-evaluations\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T23:39:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T23:39:10","slug":"goodbye-paper-course-evaluations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/information-systems\/2016\/11\/21\/goodbye-paper-course-evaluations\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodbye Paper Course Evaluations!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In collaboration with the Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (IETL), student course evaluations are transitioning to a cradle-to-grave\u00a0digital format.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, students have been completing paper\u00a0course evaluations in class near the end of each semester. \u00a0In terms of paper usage, it was estimated that the University was using over 100,000 sheets of paper per year, just for course evaluations. \u00a0Now, with a new software platform and an additional server installation, the hundreds of hours spent packing paper evaluations for delivery and\u00a0scanning them for storage are becoming a distant memory.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/information-systems\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2016\/11\/mobile-devices.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-429 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/information-systems\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2016\/11\/mobile-devices.jpg\" alt=\"mobile-devices\" width=\"483\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On November 28th, students in all math, science, and computer science courses\u00a0will receive an email for each course they are affiliated with, asking that they complete their evaluation\u00a0online. \u00a0By clicking the link in the email, students will be able to use any device they wish to complete their evaluations as long as it is able to connect to the internet; this includes using their mobile phones. \u00a0All student responses remain completely\u00a0anonymous and instructors will not be provided with the student feedback until after grades have been posted at the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that we are beginning this transition with the classes in Schmid College of Science and Technology;
