Recently, at the 9401 building at our Rinker campus in Irvine, we opened some new classrooms with a very high tech feel, notably room 180. With the new setup, students and faculty will have opportunity to interact with the course content on a much deeper level.<\/p>\n

So, what’s new?<\/p>\n

\"Room<\/a> \"Room<\/a>\"Instructor<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Wall<\/a><\/span>\"Room<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Instructor<\/a> <\/span>The instructor console is command central to:<\/p>\n

(4) large projector screens, (13) 55 inch display monitors, and (2) high definition cameras.<\/p>\n

The room is arranged in stations that hold up to eight students each. Student have the ability to connect wirelessly to their station’s 55″ display monitor via an Apple TV, or they can use a wired HDMI cable. The instructor station has the ability to control the display sources for the entire room.\u00a0 He or she can can display lecture presentations on all or select monitors or displays. The instructor may also share the display from one of the student stations with the rest of the class.<\/p>\n

There are two high definition for classroom capture.\u00a0 One of the cameras is dedicated for the instructor, while the other is for the classroom and students.\u00a0 The instructor can wear a tracking device the will make the instructor camera track their movements as they move freely around the classroom.\u00a0 During class discussions and lectures, the the student camera can be used to track students as they are talking throughout the room.\u00a0 When the microphone at a station is activated, the classroom camera can be set to display who is talking at that time.<\/p>\n

This new classroom space is great example of how Chapman University provides a the best learning environments for their students and faculty.\u00a0 If you are in the neighborhood, and there are no classes using the room, come check out Rinker 9401; rm 180.\u00a0 You will not be disappointed.<\/p>\n
