Utset, Jr. engage in a lively discussion following his presentation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Florida State University College of Law Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and William &amp; Catherine VanDercreek Professor Manuel A. Utset, Jr. recently presented \u201cFinancial Regulation: A Behavioral Law &amp; Economics Perspective\u201d at the latest installment of the Chapman Dialogue Lecture Series.<\/p>\n<p>Dean Utset\u2019s lecture looked at the fragility of financial institutions and markets, and the role this plays in creating financial regulation. \u201cWe need to focus on rational types of behavior that lead to financial breakdowns,\u201d Utset said. \u201cIf we fail to take into account some of these behavioral factors, we have regulation that is not completely effective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lecture was followed by a conversation with Fowler School of Law\u2019s Betty Hutton Williams Professor of International Economic Law Lan Cao.
