Fowler School of Law\u2019s tax law program received an \u201cA-\u201d grade in the article \u201cTop Schools for Taxation\u201d in the most recent issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nxtbook.com\/nxtbooks\/cypress\/prelaw_2016fall\"><em>preLaw<\/em><\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 109 schools identified by <em>preLaw<\/em> as offering concentrations or certificates in tax law, two received \u201cA\u201d grades, with nine additional schools, including Chapman, earning an \u201cA-.\u201d The publication based its rankings on the breadth of the schools\u2019 tax programs.<\/p>\n<p>Professor George Willis, the Director of the Tax Law Emphasis Program, said, \u201cWith a tax faculty that includes case book authors, and a wide range of tax-related courses including hands-on experience in both trial and appellate level tax clinics, our tax program has grown in stature nationally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chapman students have multiple opportunities to prepare for a future in tax law. They may earn a certificate in taxation in the law school\u2019s Tax Law Emphasis Program or participate in one of the law school\u2019s pro bono tax law clinics. Students may also participate in prestigious externships with the IRS, Department of Justice or with law and accounting firms. In addition, they may join the law school\u2019s Tax Law Society, a student organization offering tax-related presentations and networking opportunities with tax law professionals in the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe faculty and students of Chapman University Fowler School of Law are honored to be selected among the top taxation law schools,\u201d said Professor Frank Doti, a member of the school\u2019s tax law faculty. \u201cSince 1997, our Tax Law Emphasis Program has prepared students in tax law clinical programs, and competitions such as the American Bar Association\u2019s \u2018<em>Tax Law Challenge<\/em>\u2019 and, of course, prepared our graduates for tax law careers.
