Chapman University Fowler School of Law alumna Alexa Dectis (JD \u201919), associate counsel at Skydance Media, has been named one of the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 in Hollywood & Entertainment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dectis, who oversees all legal issues surrounding minors in Skydance Media productions, was inspired to go into the legal profession by her time spent as a child acting in television shows such as “Sesame Street” and “Guiding Light.”<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a child actress, I was always interested in what happened on the other side of the camera,\u201d Dectis said in a 2019 Chapman Newsroom profile<\/a>. \u201cwhich is what drew me to talent agreements and the regulations for minors in the entertainment industry. Kids in the entertainment industry need to be protected.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dectis has been on staff with Skydance since 2019. Prior to that, she served as a business and legal affairs intern at Discovery after interning in several other roles both during and before law school. In addition to her JD from Chapman, Dectis also holds a B.A. in communication and media studies from the George Washington University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
