On October 19, Chapman Law will present the 2012 Nexus Journal Legal Symposium<\/a>: \u201cHealthy Decision or Unhealthy Oversight? A Legal Debate on the Affordable Care Act and the Impact of the Supreme Court\u2019s Recent Decision\u201d. The Nexus Symposium begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 5:30 p.m. Seats are limited so registration is required.<\/a> Admission to the symposium is free and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and admission to the post-symposium \u201cEn Banc\u201d reception, as well as California MCLE credit.<\/p>\n

The symposium will feature\u00a0\u00a0three thought-provoking panels and two special keynote speakers: Phillip Longman, Senior Research Fellow at the New American Foundation, and Diana S. Dooley, Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency.\u00a0A detailed schedule and full list of speakers is located on the Nexus webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr.\u00a0Longman will present his talk, “After Obamacare: Lessons of the VA for Health Care Reform,” as a special Chapman Dialogue<\/a>.\u00a0 The Dialogue Series is a distinguished lecture program that includes some of the most innovative and thought-provoking scholars in the legal academy and social sciences. Visiting speakers are invited to present their research and ideas to a wide audience of Chapman Law faculty members, students, alumni and special guests. Each Dialogue includes a Q&A session and is typically led by one or two discussants from among the Chapman Law faculty. Starting on October \u00a018, the 2012\/2013 Dialogue series will span intermittently throughout this academic year.<\/p>\n

The Nexus Journal is a student-run publication at Chapman University School of Law that aims to provide a forum for the vast\u00a0array of individuals and groups that influence and shape American\u00a0life. Thousands of leaders in academia, government, media,\u00a0law professors, and of course federal and state judges, subscribe to\u00a0the journal.<\/p>\n

The Nexus Symposium and the Dialogue Series provides students with first-hand legal knowledge from accomplished practitioners and lawyers.
