Fowler School of Law!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At a gala <a href=\"http:\/\/ibc.chapman.edu\/Mediasite\/Play\/fe4beb24d45946bf98d6a56d343d6cc41d\" target=\"_blank\">dedication ceremony<\/a> on September 10, 2013, students, faculty and friends of the school gathered in the atrium to witness a momentous time in our school\u2019s history. Chapman University alumnus Dale E. Fowler and his wife Sarah Ann were present as the curtain fell to display our school\u2019s new name: The\u00a0Dale E. Fowler School of Law at Chapman University. The naming honors the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/lanow\/la-me-ln-chapman-law-20130815,0,3226207.story?track=rss&amp;utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;dlvrit=649324\" target=\"_blank\">historic $55 million gift<\/a>\u00a0given to the law school by the Fowlers.<a href=\"http:\/\/ibc.chapman.edu\/Mediasite\/Play\/fe4beb24d45946bf98d6a56d343d6cc41d\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6155\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6155 alignright\" alt=\"doti2\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/09\/doti2-580x328.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Chapman University Board of Trustees were present in addition to the Honorable George Shultz, former United States Secretary of State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn designating this gift for our law school, the Fowlers have expressed the greatest confidence in what we are doing in legal education, and what Chapman has accomplished in higher education more generally. We are profoundly grateful, and committed to justifying the confidence they, and each of you, have placed in us,\u201d said Dean Tom Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>The Fowler School of Law, at Chapman University, has a bright future ahead. The gift will not only make the school much more competitive with its peer institutions in the long run, but we hope to be able to provide numerous benefits to students right away. The Fowlers will be working with the School of Law to decide how financial help might be used to hire adjuncts who are practicing lawyers to team-teach more upper division classes with our doctrinal faculty, and to offset tuition costs by providing more merit-based scholarships and fellowships so that students can better afford to pay for school. We will also be discussing plans for more one-on-one career counseling and individualized job hunting strategies for our graduates.<\/p>\n<p><a
