\n“This is my element. I’ve been in journalism since I was 15,” said Madiha Shahabuddin, the newly elected editor-in-chief of the
\nChapman Law Review<\/i>
\n. She was the editor-in-chief of the student-run magazine
\nAlkalmia <\/i>
\n(meaning “the word” in Arabic) at the University of California, Irvine as well as the Walnut High School newspaper
\nThe Hoofprint<\/i>
\n.
\n
\nBefore Madiha applied for the position, she “was deterred by the work load and the feeling of everyone depending on you.” But when the current
\nChapman Law Review<\/i>
\n Editor-in-Chief, Nancy Sandoval, reminded her that the current board had faith in her, she was convinced to apply. “I just felt humbled and grateful for the executive boards’ faith and confidence in me,” Madiha said when she learned she was elected as the new editor-in-chief. She said when they called her with the news she made a speech thanking them for the faith they had in her and the second year class taking on their new roles.

\nThe other elected executive board members are Managing Editor – Amanda M. Herman; Senior Articles Editor – Jack D. Anderson; Senior Articles Editor – Benjamin C. Bertch; Senior Articles Editor – Janelle T. Wilke; Senior Symposium Editor – Rachel A. Baker; Senior Notes Editor – Alexandra B. Andreen; Production Editor – John-Christopher M. Hughes; and Senior Online Editor – Shaun E. Sanders.

\nFor her term as editor-in-chief, she plans to build on the solid foundation built by the executive boards before her. She also wants to reach out to the Fowler School of Law campus and bridge the gap between the
\nChapman<\/em>
\n 
\nLaw Review<\/i>
\n and the law school student body. The goal is to get more students engaged with the publication. The new executive board will start planning now and have topics for the next issue and symposium decided by the end of this semester. “The goal is to hit the ground running,” Madiha said.

\n“I am excited. It’s a big task but I have so much faith in our executive board that I feel like we can accomplish a lot this year,” said the new
\nChapman Law Review<\/i>
