An Orange County Register<\/em> article on October 8, 2009 reported on Chapman law students working to get Chapman alumnus Emmett Ashford recognized in the national Baseball Hall of Fame.\u00a0 Mr. Ashford played baseball for Chapman in the 1940s and was the first black umpire in the major leagues.
