The Golden Quill Award is presented annually to students whose briefs are selected as the &#8220;Top Briefs&#8221; for the plaintiff and the defendant in the first year students&#8217; Legal Research and Writing Competition.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8025\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8025\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8025 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2014\/07\/2014-golden-quill-winners-e1405532853884.jpg\" alt=\"2014-golden-quill-winners\" width=\"200\" height=\"100\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8025\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>Jade McKenzie and Steven Pham<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>McKenzie represented the plaintiff and Pham represented the defendant. The brief covered questions as to whether a plaintiff is protected under Title VII&#8217;s anti-retaliation provision as a result of plaintiff&#8217;s participation in an EEOC investigation about his own sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Both students will be honored during the fall awards ceremony.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rutan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rutan &amp; Tucker, LLP<\/a><br \/>\n\u2019s continued support funds an annual first year writing and advocacy competition hosted by the Fowler School of Law Legal Research and Writing Program.
