Fowler School of Law student Hugo Salazar<br \/>\n<strong>(JD &#x2019;16) <\/strong><br \/>\nwill spend part of his summer interning with<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/earthjustice.org\/\">Earthjustice<\/a><br \/>\n, a nonprofit public interest law organization dedicated to environmental justice issues throughout the country, after receiving the California State Bar&#x2019;s Environmental Law Fellowship last semester. Salazar was one of three law students statewide to be honored. The fellowship program, which is in its inaugural year, provides an opportunity for law students to develop their interests and skills in the field of environmental law through direct experiences in governmental and public-interest environmental law organizations. The fellowship provides an eight to 10 week summer internship, a mentor from the Environmental Law Section of the California State Bar and a $5,000 stipend.&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n&#8220;I&#8217;m excited for both my fellowship and the Earthjustice summer internship&#xA0;because I will be able to work on cases that promote environmental justice, clean air, water and solar energy. I also value this experience as it will&#xA0;give me valuable hands-on experience that will help me to pursue a career as a land-use and environmental law attorney and community advocate.&#8221; &#x2013; Hugo Salazar&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\nSalazar was the 2014-2015 co-president of the<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/law\/student-resources\/student-organizations\/cultural-law-societies.aspx\">Minority Law Students Association<\/a><br \/>\n and president of the<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/law\/student-resources\/student-organizations\/practice-area-societies.aspx\">Environmental Law Students Association<\/a><br \/>\n.
