The Center for American War Letters Archives<\/a>\u00a0announces the inclusion of archival correspondence in our Digital Commons<\/a> platform in honor of D-Day, June 6th, commemorating the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, during World War II in 1944.<\/p>\n

This collection contains three correspondences written by service members about the invasion. These service members either directly served on D-Day or landed in Normandy shortly after the invasion.<\/p>\n

From the air to the ground, this collection represents a sample of the thousands of U.S. military personnel who served during the invasion, opening a second front in Europe that would eventually lead to the defeat of Nazi Germany.<\/p>\n
