This event is a part of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.chapman.edu\/2024\/10\/11\/year-of-data-resource-spotlight-hsi-dashboard\/\">Chapman University&#8217;s &#8220;Year of Data&#8221; Initiative<\/a>, and you can learn more about Data at Chapman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/data-at-chapman\/index.aspx\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;The Year of Data is all about making data accessible and a core part of everything we do. Love Data Week is the perfect event to bring people across the university together to celebrate and explore how data can drive our success.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Lauri Mantooth, <em>Deputy Chief Information Officer<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/campus-services\/information-systems\/index.aspx\">Information Systems &amp; Technology<\/a><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Love Data Week Open House will have three timeslots featuring presentations focused on student success data, faculty research\/data services, and data needed for daily operations. Getting and using your free ORCID iD can help save time and get credit for your work in funding, publishing, and research reporting workflows. This workshop will help you obtain an ORCID iD to allow easy identification when funding or publishing research, which is increasingly important as funding organizations, publishers, and research institutions increasingly require or ask for ORCID iDs from researchers.<\/p>\n<p>*This is a virtual workshop. Some agencies, such as NSF and NIH, already require Data Management or Data Management and Sharing Plans. These documents outline the qualities of the data that will be collected, how it will be stored and protected, how and where it will be shared, and who will be responsible for managing the data.<\/p>\n<p>Join us on <strong>Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 2 &#8211; 3 p.m.<\/strong> to learn the basics of writing funder-required Data Management Plans (DMPs). Attendees will learn what &#8220;messy&#8221; data is and how to &#8220;clean it,&#8221; how to open, explore, and transform a data set using OpenRefine, and more.<\/p>\n<p>No prior coding experience is required, but participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to follow along and get hands-on experience using OpenRefine with our librarians.
