In honor of Veterans Day on November 11th and our event,\u00a0“Get Square with the Rebs: The Charles M. Jenkins Civil War Diary” <\/a>on November 9th,\u00a0the Leatherby Libraries<\/a>\u00a0has created an intriguing display showcasing\u00a0books on the Civil War. Although many from the library, Dr. Don Booth<\/a> has also donated pieces to the display from his own private collection. The topics of the exhibited historical texts range from battles, locations and population groups that were affected by the war. “Get Square with the Rebs: The Charles M. Jenkins Civil War Diary” <\/a>\u00a0will take place on November 9th in the Center for American War Letters Archives from 5 – 7 p.m. Join us to hear about his amazing story on Charles M. Jenkins, the only Los Angeles-area resident to see combat for the Union Army during the Civil War. Jenkins kept a diary of his experience in Virginia during and after the final days of the conflict and this remarkable document was forgotten in storage for over 60 years until it was unearthed last year.
