\n The Chapman Guitar Quartet performing in the Malloy Portico in the Leatherby Libraries<\/figcaption><\/figure>

\nLast month, at noon on Friday, March 13, the harmonious sounds of nylon strings resounded through the Leatherby Libraries, signaling the re-launch of the Music at the Malloy concert series. The concert featured performances by seven talented guitar students of Professor Jeff Cogan, Director of Guitar Studies and Music Technology at the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. Students Sean Atkinson, Nate Brown, Taylor Darrow, Mason Hock, Chris Horney, Jared Jamias, and Brandon Miranda performed solo and ensemble works by composers from the Baroque through modern eras, including, J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Roland Dyens, and William Walton. The
\nChapman Guitar Quartet <\/a>
\nopened the concert with their repertoire that recently won them
\nfirst place in the Brownsville Guitar Festival and Competition<\/a>
\n.

\n Lauren Arasim will lead a Music at the Malloy concert on April 17<\/figcaption><\/figure>
\n
\nFriday, April 17 at 2:30pm will mark the next installment of the series with a concert led by senior harpist Lauren Arasim in a concert titled “Lauren Arasim and Friends.” Lauren explores a wide variety of musical idioms including jazz, classical, and country. She will share the stage with friends from the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music – vocalist Anna Turkisher, pianist Michael Seaman, percussionist Katie Eikam, and jazz band director Albert Alva.

\nMusic at the Malloy concerts give library patrons and the public a chance to enjoy chamber music performed by students and faculty from the Chapman University Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. The Malloy Portico, located just outside of the M. Douglas Music Library on the third floor of the Leatherby Libraries, provides a great location for watching the musicians perform.

\nIn the future we hope to bring student performances from the departments of Theatre and Dance to the Malloy Portico to share their creative skills with an appreciative audience in the Leatherby Libraries.
