Thanks to the generous support of the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Pharmacy, the Leatherby Libraries can now offer students, faculty, and staff in the health sciences access to one new database and upgraded access to an existing and valuable resource.<\/p>\n

UpToDate<\/strong> is a clinical support tool that synthesizes recent medical information into evidence-based, recommendations to improve patient care and quality. The information in UpToDate undergoes a rigorous editorial process with contributions from more than 6,500 physician authors, editors, and peer reviewers, and over 80 research studies confirm an association between usage of UpToDate and improved patient care and hospital performance.<\/p>\n

This tool can be accessed through the library website or at https:\/\/chapman.libguides.com\/uptodate<\/a>. First-time users will need to create a free account with their Chapman emails in order to use the database, and will then be able to log in from anywhere, as well as download mobile apps for their phones or tablets.<\/p>\n

The library\u2019s subscription to UpToDate is only available to Chapman University students, staff, and faculty. Users in Brandman\u2019s Doctor of Nursing Practice program will need to contact their program administrators for access to the DNP program\u2019s subscription to UpToDate.<\/p>\n

AccessMedicine <\/strong>is a resource that provides access to more than 60 medical titles and instant answers to clinical questions. Content includes thousands of images and illustrations, interactive self-assessment, case files, diagnostic tools, a comprehensive search platform, and the ability to download content to a mobile device. While Chapman University has had a subscription for several years, it had been limited to 3 users at a time, a situation that was becoming untenable with the growth of all of our health science programs. We have now been able to upgrade this access to unlimited simultaneous users, meaning our students will no longer be turned away if there are already several others using the database. This tool can be accessed through the library website or at https:\/\/chapman.libguides.com\/accessmedicine<\/a>.<\/p>\n
