\n Dr. Amer El-Ahraf, Coordinator of Arabic Studies at the “Egypt: The Revolution Continues” library event, September 2015<\/figcaption><\/figure>

\nThe Leatherby Libraries has partnered with the
\nArabic Studies <\/a>
\ncluster at Chapman University to create an exhibit highlighting the actor Omar Sharif. Omar Sharif was a celebrated Egyptian actor who passed away last year, remembered for his roles in
\nLawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, <\/em>
\nand
\nFunny Girl<\/em>
\n. In his life time, Sharif was nominated once for an Academy Award, and won three Golden Globe Awards along with a Cesar Award.
\n
\nCurrently, there is a free and open to the public
\nOmar Sharif Film Festival <\/a>
\nthroughout the semester on campus. During the screenings, Arabic and Middle Eastern food is served.
\n
\n

\nThe exhibit also highlights the history of Arabic Studies at Chapman, in collaboration with the coordinator of Arabic Studies,
\nDr. Amer El-Ahraf<\/a>
\n. Always supportive of the library, Dr. El-Ahraf is delighted by the success of both the program and the
\n Arabic Club<\/a>
\n on Chapman’s campus. He works closely with
\nShahrzad Khosrowpour<\/a>
\n, Liaison Librarian to the department of World Languages and Cultures, to enrich the Leatherby Libraries collection with books and resources that complement the students’ studies of the Arabic language. The library exhibit highlights some of these resources, as well as others on loan from Dr. El-Ahraf’s personal collection of Arabic language.
