National Native American Heritage Month<\/a> is celebrated each year in November. In celebration of the month, our Sociology and Native American Studies librarian<\/a> has curated a book display, accessible in the Leatherby Libraries lobby in front of the elevators, on Native American Art.<\/p>\n

The description of the display reads, \u201cNative Americans are the Indigenous peoples of the United States. There are 574 federally recognized tribes across the U.S.<\/a>, including 109 in California<\/a>. Works by Native American artists can be traditional or modern. Examples of Native American artwork can include paintings, sculptures, woodcarvings, basketry, pottery, textiles, and photography, among other formats. The style of the artwork varies among tribes and generations.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n

Head on over to the Leatherby Libraries to view the display in person. The bibliography for the display can be viewed on Chapman University Digital Commons here<\/a>.
