\n\"Woman<\/a>summer I conducted a\u00a0series of in<\/a>terviews <\/a>
\nwith all the student workers around the\u00a0Lea<\/a>therby\u00a0<\/a>Libraries<\/a>. These interviews helped inform the community about all the different areas of the library and all the services we have! Now, we\u2019re doing the same with all our hard-working librarians. Linda Galloway, our new health science librarian, was kind enough to answer some questions for us.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0What is your name and title?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linda Galloway, Health Sciences Librarian<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0In what department of the Leatherby Libraries do you work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I work for the Public Services Division at the Harry and Diane Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0How long have you been at Chapman University?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been at Chapman University since February 2016.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0What is your job in a nutshell?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a people and information matchmaker; I help students, faculty and staff find the best resources for their needs and help them realize the full potential of our research products. I teach people how to use productivity tools like citation managers, and have expertise in scholarly metrics and analysis.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Have you held any jobs at other universities or libraries?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been a STEM librarian for the past 10 years, and most recently was the STEM collection development and analysis librarian at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. I was also the library liaison to the chemistry and forensic sciences departments. Before becoming a librarian, I worked in a biogeochemistry research lab.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0What are your passions\/interests outside of work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love to spend time outside, travel and garden. My three kids all live in Southern California, so my husband and I get to see them often.<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0Where did you get your degree?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I received a B.S. in chemistry from Long Island University and a M.S. in library and information science from Syracuse University.<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0Where is your hometown?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m originally from Utica, NY; a small town in Upstate NY.<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0What is the last book you read, or the last book you loved?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t read \u2013 I listen to audiobooks! I loved the Ibis trilogy books by Amitav Ghosh.<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0Any fun facts about yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The only class I ever failed (twice) was obedience class with my Jack Russell terrier, Tiki. We finally passed and went on to take dog agility classes, which Tiki and I both enjoy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
