Starting this year, President Joe Biden issued a historic proclamation recognizing National Arab American Heritage Month (NAAHM)<\/a> for April. In honor of this proclamation, the Leatherby Libraries presents a display celebrating National Arab American Heritage Month.<\/p>\n

This display celebrates the Arab American culture, heritage, and experience and pays tribute to the contributions of Arab Americans and Arabic-speaking Americans.\u00a0It includes publications such as <\/span>Tasting the Sky: A Palestinian Childhood<\/span><\/em>\u00a0by Ibtisam Barakat, a memoir about being a child in the aftermath of the 1967 Six Day War, and\u00a0<\/span>Arab-American Faces and Voices: The Origins of An Immigrant Community<\/span><\/em> by Elizabeth Boosahda, a nonfiction book examining the last one hundred years of the Arab American community. <\/span>Additionally, the display features books, such as <\/span>What The Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City<\/span><\/em> by Mona Hanna-Attish, a story that demonstrates one of the many contributions of Arab Americans. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the first time ever, the display also includes a list of suggested eBooks. Titles such as <\/span>The Language of Baklava<\/span><\/span><\/em> by <\/span><\/span>Diana Abu-Jaber brings a vibrant, humorous memoir to life. It weaves delicious food memories and illuminates the two cultures of her childhood\u2014American and Jordanian.<\/p>\n
