These agreements will allow Chapman-affiliated authors to publish their articles <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/2019\/10\/21\/leatherby-libraries-celebrates-open-access-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Open Access<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> at reduced or zero cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">About the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Agreement:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11495\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11495 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos.png 1263w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos-300x109.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos-1024x373.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/acm_4c_grad_vtag_pos-768x280.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/libguides.chapman.edu\/free_OA_publishing\/acm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">read-and-publish agreement with ACM (Association for Computing Machinery)<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will last <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">through June 2026. <\/span><\/strong>This agreement <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">covers the Article Processing Charges (APCs) (i.e., Open Access publication fees) for Chapman authors who have their research articles accepted for publication in applicable ACM journals, technical magazines, and conference proceedings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To be eligible, articles must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Be accepted for publication in any of ACM&#8217;s <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/libraries.acm.org\/subscriptions-access\/publications-eligible-for-oa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">68 journals and technical magazines or 500+ conference proceedings<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> during the agreement term.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Have a corresponding author affiliated with Chapman University (i.e., researcher, professor, adjunct faculty member, lecturer, graduate or undergraduate student). The corresponding author must have an <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ORCID<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Learn more about the importance of ORCID <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/2024\/08\/08\/why-do-you-need-an-orcid-now\/\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">About the Emerald Agreement:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/ep_large.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11498\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11498 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/ep_large.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/ep_large.png 712w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/ep_large-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/libguides.chapman.edu\/free_OA_publishing\/emerald\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">read-and-publish agreement with Emerald<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for 2025-2027 covers the APCs for Chapman authors who have their research papers accepted in one of Emerald&#8217;s <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1aDeot39_GO3TiWcFWSvUiELnM0xkK-QmYD0KIL5cRs0\/edit?gid=1155058254#gid=1155058254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">312 hybrid journals<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To be eligible, articles must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Be one of the following article types: case reports, conceptual papers, literature reviews, technical papers, viewpoints papers, research articles, extended editorials, practitioner papers, impact articles, brief reports, or policy briefs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Have a corresponding author whose primary affiliation is with Chapman University (i.e., faculty, lecturer, staff, or student).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This agreement will provide free open access publication for up to 30 articles in 2025, 31 in 2026, and 32 in 2027 across participating institutions (including Chapman University). These numbers are higher than the average historical publishing output from the participating institutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This agreement also offers eligible authors a 5% discount on the APCs for Emerald&#8217;s <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1-h6qbrejiKltwmjcwmw7Nx3ofJPOWOOPMaJRo8pYImc\/edit?gid=1960947459#gid=1960947459&amp;fvid=1101131208\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">11 fully open access journal titles<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, to be paid by the author(s). However, these titles are likely eligible for <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/library\/lrds\/soars.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">SOARS<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> awards for full-time faculty authors to cover the remaining 95% of the APC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">About the Oxford University Press Agreement:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/Oxford_University_Press_logo.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11497\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-11497 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/Oxford_University_Press_logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"453\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/Oxford_University_Press_logo.png 512w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2025\/03\/Oxford_University_Press_logo-300x71.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Unlike most of our read-and-publish deals, the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/libguides.chapman.edu\/free_OA_publishing\/oxford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">agreement with Oxford University Press<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (OUP) provides discounts to authors for the costs of publishing open access instead of covering APCs fully. This deal will last through 2028.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To be eligible, articles must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Be a research article, review article, case report, or brief report.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Be published in one of OUP&#8217;s <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1pVKjLUTJqKhktVRceUx0yPtxEyChQB9rfbb5Sd-6i_A\/edit?gid=171915094#gid=171915094&amp;fvid=1950125264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">140 fully open access journals<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> or <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1pVKjLUTJqKhktVRceUx0yPtxEyChQB9rfbb5Sd-6i_A\/edit?gid=171915094#gid=171915094&amp;fvid=810236445\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">357 hybrid journals<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> covered under the agreement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Have a corresponding author affiliated with Chapman University (i.e., faculty, lecturer, staff, or student).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For authors submitting to fully OA (i.e., gold) journals, the agreement will cover the first $750 of the APC. Authors are responsible for covering the rest of the cost beyond this $750 discount. However, full-time faculty may apply for <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/library\/lrds\/soars.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">SOARS<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> awards to cover the remainder of the APC costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For authors submitting to hybrid journals, the costs will depend on whether the author has grant funding to cover the costs of open-access publishing:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The library agreement will cover the full cost of the APC for authors who <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">do not have<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> grant funding to cover it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The library agreement will cover the first $1,000 of the APC for authors with grant funding to cover the rest of the cost, with the authors responsible for covering the remainder with their grant funds.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Further
