This event will be in the Doy and Dee Henley Reading Room on the second floor of the Leatherby Libraries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2024\/02\/20230901_102138-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9161 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2024\/02\/20230901_102138-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"261\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dickson curated\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Acceptance: A Step to Promote Awareness and Understanding of Autism\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">after being inspired by her family&#8217;s experience during social isolation. As the family began adapting to their new routine, they found empathy and connection to one another as their path towards finding a new normal. The family&#8217;s acceptance of their new normal mirrored the acceptance of the role of autism in their sons&#8217; lives.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Inspired by the themes in\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Acceptance,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Leatherby Libraries has organized a panel discussion to promote open dialogue and discussion of autism in society from an academic and lifestyle perspective.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/meghan-cosier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr. Meghan Cosier<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the Executive Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/centers-and-partnerships\/thompson-policy-institute\/index.aspx\">Thompson Policy Institute on Disability<\/a>, will serve as the panel moderator. Bernie Dickson will participate in the panel alongside\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/amy-griffiths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr. Amy Jane Griffiths<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, an Associate Professor at Chapman University and licensed psychologist, and Stephen Hinkle, a Chapman PhD student and self-advocate. This panel will promote an inclusive conversation that celebrates the values and contributions of neurodivergent individuals worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The panel discussion will begin at\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">4 p.m.<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, followed by an opening reception with refreshments. This event is open to the public, and all students, staff, and faculty interested in learning more about autism in society are encouraged to attend. This event is presented by the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/library\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Leatherby Libraries<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/centers-and-partnerships\/thompson-policy-institute\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span
