Teachable moments with EarthTeach

EarthTeach@Chapman

The Faculty Environmental Committee encourages all Chapman faculty members to dedicate a portion of each of their classes during Earth Week to discussing how their course or discipline contributes to understanding environmental concerns. Earth Day itself is Thursday, April 22.

Be creative.  Students can present issues in current news articles linking the course subject to the environment; calculate how their carbon footprint changes if they engage in different activities; debate different perspectives on environmental justice; discuss the recycling/environmental practices of different countries; analyze rhetorical strategies for persuading consumers to go green; and contrast “green” businesses to various criteria for sustainable practices.

For more information, faculty can find and contribute teaching resources on the
EarthTeach
blog created specifically for this event.
