During his annual talk, the president will deliver a multimedia presentation reviewing recent accomplishments and introducing the next five-year plan for the University. Capping it off will be special activities and gifts, along with the official University poster, created each year by a Chapman graphic design class.

A Tradition of Generosity

A ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will immediately follow at the newly refurbished Reeves Hall, home of Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies. Over the past 35 years, Donna Ford Attallah ’61 and her late husband, school psychologist Fahmy Attallah, Ph.D., have donated $15.5 million to Chapman.

Among the facilities the couple’s generosity has supported is Chapman’s iconic Attallah Piazza, the heart of the campus and a gathering place for events and celebrations. Last fall Chapman named its school of education in honor of Donna Attallah, a longtime elementary school teacher in local schools.

Reeves Hall Remodeled

The $9 million remodeling of the hall included a seismic retrofit, improved ADA accessibility – including an internal elevator to all floors – new fire, life and safety systems, and a build-out of interior offices and classrooms.

Completed in 1913, Reeves Hall is one of the original buildings of the former Orange Union High School that make up Chapman’s historic core. The modernization preserved the historic integrity of the building, which is listed in the National Registry for Historical Buildings.

For those unable to attend the State of the University, live streaming will be available on the Chapman video page as well as Chapman’s Facebook page. An archived recording will be posted online at the Office of the President.
