Pharmacy Times reports the demand for pharmacists is rising across the nation, according to the January 2015 Aggregate Demand Index figures.
Demand is estimated on a 5-point scale, with 5 indicating a high demand for pharmacists and 1 indicating there are many more pharmacists than there are jobs.
Regionally, the Western states saw the greatest demand at 3.74. The Northeast saw less demand for pharmacists, with a score of 2.91.
The demand for pharmacists who work at large organizations that include community, clinic, and inpatient pharmacies was 4.25. Pharmacists affiliated with hospitals and health care systems were the least likely to be in demand, at 2.87.
