{"id":1744,"date":"2024-06-05T11:56:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T18:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/pharmacy\/2024\/06\/05\/on-the-cusp-may-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-06-05T11:56:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T18:56:46","slug":"on-the-cusp-may-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/2024\/06\/05\/on-the-cusp-may-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"On the CUSP: May 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Grants<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/cintia-citterio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cintia Citterio <\/a>was awarded a new investigator grant of $11,000.00 by the AACP for the study of &#8220;Molecular Pathogenesis of Thyroid Cystinosis and New Therapeutic Approaches&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/gary-fong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gary Fong <\/a>received one of Chapman University\u2019s Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity awards with an amount of $14,960 for his project titled: \u201cIdentifying epidemiological trends, treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, and opportunities to improve care for patients with candidemia in a vulnerable, resource-limited population.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/amy-kang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amy Kang<\/a>\u00a0received an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/2024\/06\/05\/dr-amy-kang-receives-patient-safety-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inaugural patient safety research award<\/a> of $10,000 for her project titled \u201cAddressing the Silent Threat: Inappropriate Diagnosis and Management of Urinary Tract Infection in Outpatient Settings.\u201d This project ultimately aims to develop a targeted antimicrobial stewardship intervention to minimize inappropriate prescribing practices for UTIs in outpatient settings.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/jennifer-ko\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jennifer Ko <\/a>and mentor Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/jerika-lam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jerika Lam <\/a>with co-investigators Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/emmanuelle-schwartzman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emmanuelle Schwartzman <\/a>and Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/richard-beuttler-4a4a078b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Richard Beuttler<\/a>\u00a0received the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Scholars grant with an amount of $10,000 for their project titled: \u201c<em>Fostering Patient-Pharmacist Concordance with Patients Who Speak Spanish.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/moom-roosan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moom Roosan<\/a> received one of Chapman University\u2019s Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity awards with an amount of $15,000 for her project titled: \u201cFeasibility to diagnose Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and mild cognitive impairment from blood.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/sherry-yun-wang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sherry Wang <\/a>and Dr. Yuxin Wen (School of Engineering) have been awarded funding of $10,000 from the McGovern Foundation&#8217;s Training Program in Trusted AI for their project titled &#8220;Advancing Equity and Transparency in AI: Identifying and Remedying Algorithmic Bias in Opioid Overdose Risk Scores to Improve Access to Opioid Analgesics for Patients.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/jason-yamaki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jason Yamaki <\/a>and Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/sherif-elshahawi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sherif Elshahawi <\/a>received the CUSP collaboration grant entitled &#8220;Developing Drug Leads to Inhibit C.
