Jeff Goad, Pharm.D., received the inaugural Excellence and Achievement in Travel Health Pharmacy Award from the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM). This honor was given in recognition of Goad\u2019s extensive contributions to travel health pharmacy.<\/p>\n
Established by the ISTM Pharmacist Professional Group (PPG) to acknowledge long-term dedication in travel medicine, this award is granted biennially to only one individual whose work has a significant impact on clinical practice or research within pharmacy-based travel medicine. Goad was honored at ISTM’s recent conference held in New Orleans, LA.<\/p>\n
Goad, a founding faculty and tenured professor at Chapman University’s School of Pharmacy, also earned the title of Fellow from ISTM in April 2017, the first Western Hemisphere pharmacist, and has been a leading figure in travel health pharmacy throughout his career. As the current president of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (2024-2026) and founding chair of the ISTM PPG, he has provided leadership at national and international levels. His previous roles also include presidencies of both the California Immunization Coalition and the California Pharmacists Association.<\/p>\n
At Chapman University, Goad coordinates and instructs courses in travel medicine, immunizations, epidemiology, and parasitology, preparing future pharmacists to make meaningful impacts in global health. He is notably a national faculty member and advisory board member for the American Pharmacists Association\u2019s (APhA) Pharmacy-Based Immunization Training Program and is the creator and current chair of the APhA Travel Medicine Advanced Competency Training Course.<\/p>\n
