Joining the pharmacy fraternity Phi Delta Chi, she gained a support system that spanned beyond Chapman. \u201cPDC introduced me to <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">student<\/span>s across the country and gave me a chance to build lasting connections,\u201d she said.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2278 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197.jpeg 1895w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197-275x300.jpeg 275w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197-939x1024.jpeg 939w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197-768x838.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197-1408x1536.jpeg 1408w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3197-1878x2048.jpeg 1878w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span>\u2019s most meaningful impact has been her involvement with the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP). In the 3 short years at Chapman University, <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span> herself or her projects have been recognized state-wide on several occasions. \u201cI knew I wanted to be part of something that advocates for pharmacists in health systems,\u201d she said. \u201cCSHP gave me that opportunity, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Initially drawn in as an APEx <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">student<\/span>, <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span> quickly became a fixture in the organization and attended every event she was able to. <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span> served as CUSP\u2019s CSHP chapter president, and also sat on\u00a0their\u00a0<span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Student<\/span> Section Executive Committee for two years. Some of her favorite memories at CUSP are tied to CSHP, including Mental Health Awareness Week, an annual event in May which bridges both CUSP and Crean <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">student<\/span>s, faculty, and staff for engaging activities designed for reflection and mental health fortitude.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3599.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2280 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/IMG_3599.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"158\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Under her leadership, the 2023 Mental Health Awareness Week was awarded the CSHP\u00a0Student Chapter Community Service Project Award. 2024\u2019s Mental Health Awareness Week grew, and included guest speakers, special campus guests, and breakout sessions focused on mindfulness.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/PXL_20231010_165811498.PORTRAIT.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2282 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/pharmacy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/05\/PXL_20231010_165811498.PORTRAIT.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"351\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In addition to this outstanding award, <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span> was recognized as an individual by CSHP as a recipient of their <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Student<\/span> Leadership Award in 2024. \u201cThose awards make me reflect on how far I\u2019ve come, and everyone who\u2019s helped me get here\u2014my family, my professors, my friends,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s also a reminder of the responsibility I have to continue advocating for our profession and inspiring the next generation of pharmacists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">Kierra<\/span> prepares to graduate, she can\u2019t help but be excited for what the future holds for her. \u201cThere\u2019s so much we do that the public doesn\u2019t see,\u201d she said. \u201cPharmacists are the final checkpoint to ensure patient safety, and that role should never be underestimated.
