{"id":136,"date":"2011-11-09T15:33:52","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T23:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/scst\/2011\/11\/09\/dean-kafatos-receives-an-ieee-leadership-award\/"},"modified":"2011-11-09T15:33:52","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T23:33:52","slug":"dean-kafatos-receives-an-ieee-leadership-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/scst\/2011\/11\/09\/dean-kafatos-receives-an-ieee-leadership-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Dean Kafatos Receives an IEEE Leadership Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Menas Kafatos, Ph.D., dean of Chapman\u2019s Schmid College of Science and Technology, has been named the recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Leadership and Professional Service award of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Orange County\u00a0Section.\u00a0\u00a0 He received the award at IEEE-OC\u2019s annual awards banquet, held Oct. 29 in Costa Mesa, Calif.\u00a0\u00a0 The award is given to recognize\u00a0IEEE members who, through their professional and technical abilities, have made outstanding and noteworthy contributions to the Institute, their communities, fellow professionals\u00a0 and fellow man. The award pays tribute to\u00a0collective contributions complemented by singular works\u00a0 exemplifying the objectives and attributes of IEEE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am extremely honored to receive this award,\u201d said Dean Kafatos.\u00a0 \u201cIEEE is, of course, the largest professional society in the world, and\u00a0its\u00a0Orange County\u00a0Section is very active and covers many areas of engineering and technology.
