guests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Georgiana Bostean, Ph.D.<\/strong>, an assistant professor with double appointments in Schmid College of Science and Technology and Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences, kicks off the series next week.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Georgiana Bostean will deliver a talk on the family stress factors related to migration, titled, <i>The Stress Process Among Foreign-born Latino Groups: Examining the Roles of Migration-related Stress, Family Conflict, and Family Cohesion in Psychological Distress.<\/i>\u00a0 Join us on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, noon \u2013 1 p.m. in Argyros Forum 119A.<\/p>\n<p>The series continues through December, with all sessions held from noon to 1 p.m. in Argyros Forum 119A.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming speakers in the series include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Oct. 16, Francis Edward Su, Ph.D.<\/strong>, professor of mathematics at Harvey Mudd College on <i>Voting In Agreeable Societies<\/i>, an examination of how mathematical modeling can be used to analyze voting behavior.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nov. 13, Cassandra Medvedeff, Ph.D.<\/strong>, a post-doctoral research associate at Chapman University, on <i>Controls of Greenhouse Gas Production: Studies from the Florida Everglades to Minnesota Peatlands<\/i>, a presentation on her work looking at methane production in wetland ecosystems in the context of global climate change scenarios.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dec. 4, Jennifer Martiny, Ph.D.<\/strong>, professor, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of California, Irvine, on <i>Microbial Diversity, Ecosystem Functioning, and Global Change<\/i>, a discussion of how various microbes impact decomposition and carbon dioxide fluctuations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, visit the
