{"id":318,"date":"2012-03-13T10:22:24","date_gmt":"2012-03-13T17:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/scst\/2012\/03\/13\/celebrate-historic-clean-water-act-at-chapmans-universitys-world-water-day\/"},"modified":"2012-03-13T10:22:24","modified_gmt":"2012-03-13T17:22:24","slug":"celebrate-historic-clean-water-act-at-chapmans-universitys-world-water-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/scst\/2012\/03\/13\/celebrate-historic-clean-water-act-at-chapmans-universitys-world-water-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrate Historic Clean Water Act at Chapman\u2019s University\u2019s World Water Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a partnership with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mycleanwateract.com\/\">My Clean Water Act<\/a>\u00a0organization, Chapman University is participating in its year-long, nationwide celebration of water conservation and sustainability with a World Water Day Thursday, March 22.<\/p>\n<p>The day-long occasion will feature a variety of events\u2014both educational and entertaining\u2014to celebrate the 40<sup>th<\/sup>anniversary of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/lawsregs\/laws\/cwa.html\">water-sustaining legislation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be a part of this global celebration and acknowledgment of the most important resource on our planet and the anniversary of the legislation recognizing that,\u201d said Catherine Clark, Ph.D., associate dean and professor, with\u00a0 Chapman\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/scs\/\">Schmid College of Science and Technology<\/a>. \u201cCalifornia\u2019s coastal ocean waters have changed and improved in the 40 years since the legislation was enacted \u2013 but we need to keep up the message of its importance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chapman event begins at 1 p.m. with a talk by Karen Setty of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sccwrp.org\/Homepage.aspx\">Southern California Coastal Water Research Project<\/a>.
