Of course, we at Schmid College are beaming with Panther Pride.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an excerpt from the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/happenings\/2014\/05\/02\/faculty-researchers-innovators-celebrated-at-annual-award-reception\/\">Happenings<\/a> article detailing the event and the recognition of Schmid College faculty:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The awards were presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/about\/administration\/chancellors-office\/index.aspx\">Chancellor Daniele Struppa<\/a>, who commended the faculty for their research activities and vigorous pursuit of external funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really proud of the work you all are doing. It\u2019s very important the work that you do because it is connected to our educational mission, not only for what we do for our undergraduate students but also how we now can support our graduate students.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s honorees included:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a style=\"color: #a82439\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/happenings\/2011\/01\/14\/dr-piper-finds-uncommon-knowledge-in-life-of-common-loons\/\">Walter Piper<\/a>, Ph.D.<\/strong>, professor in the Schmid College of Science and Technology [was] inducted into <strong>The Million Dollar Club<\/strong>, for faculty who have reached a cumulative $1 million level of sponsored funding. Piper receives grants from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">National Science Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/laura-m-glynn\">Laura Glynn<\/a>, Ph.D.<\/strong>, associate professor, Schmid College of Science and Technology, was awarded the <strong>Distinguished Research Award<\/strong>. Glynn examines the interplay of biological, psychosocial and behavioral processes in\u00a0<a style=\"color: #a82439\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/happenings\/2012\/06\/22\/pregnancy-hormones-may-change-sharpen-moms-brain-for-the-better\/\">pregnancy<\/a>\u00a0and their influence on maternal and fetal health and early childhood development.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/jennifer-funk\">Jennifer Funk<\/a>, Ph.D.<\/strong>, assistant professor, was awarded the <strong>Junior Faculty Award<\/strong>.
