Bush Conference Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Junior Wang-Fradkin Professorship is a\u00a0two-year monetary award to further teaching and scholarship. This and the Senior Wang-Fradkin Professorship were founded in memory of Hua-Cheng Wang, professor of political science, diplomat and expert on international law; and Cheng-Mei Fradkin, distinguished teacher, scholar and administrator.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6279\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6279\" style=\"width: 110px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6279 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/scst\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/05\/Debruyn_W.jpg\" alt=\"Warren de Bruyn, Ph.D.\" width=\"110\" height=\"130\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6279\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>Warren de Bruyn, Ph.D.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Valerie Scudder Award, another high honor bestowed by the university, was awarded to Schmid College faculty.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/warren-de-bruyn\"><strong>Warren de Bruyn, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n, professor of chemistry, and<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/jason-keller\"><strong>Jason Keller, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n, associate professor of biological sciences were both recognized as recipients of this honor for their outstanding achievement in teaching, scholarship, advising and service to the university. \u00a0Keller, who studies global change influences on wetland carbon cycling and greenhouse gas dynamics, was also recognized earlier in the week with induction into the\u00a0Office of Research and Sponsored Programs&#8217; &#8220;Million Dollar Club&#8221; for securing a\u00a0nearly<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/press-room\/2015\/11\/02\/chapman-university-named-as-department-of-energy-1-5-million-grant-recipient-focusing-on-climate-change\/\">$1.5 million Department of Energy (DoE) grant<\/a><br \/>\nthat, &#8220;allows Chapman researchers to participate in the SPRUCE project by investigating the controls of the production and release of the greenhouse gas methane in this ecosystem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6249\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6249\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6249 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/scst\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/05\/20160513_154737cropped.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Melissa Rowland-Goldsmith, instructional assistant professor of molecular biology, poses with the Outstanding Teaching Award plaque bearing her name at the May 13 Faculty Honors Convocation.\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6249\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>Rowland-Goldsmith poses with the Outstanding Teaching Award plaque bearing her name.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/melissa-rowland-goldsmith\"><strong>Melissa Rowland-Goldsmith, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n, instructional assistant\u00a0professor of molecular biology and deeply committed educator, was also recognized at this year&#8217;s Faculty Honors Convocation as a recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Teaching Award.
