{"id":7298,"date":"2017-06-08T12:00:11","date_gmt":"2017-06-08T19:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/scst\/2017\/06\/08\/kids-wise-up-about-water-pollution-with-a-little-help-from-chapman-students\/"},"modified":"2017-06-08T12:00:11","modified_gmt":"2017-06-08T19:00:11","slug":"kids-wise-up-about-water-pollution-with-a-little-help-from-chapman-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/scst\/2017\/06\/08\/kids-wise-up-about-water-pollution-with-a-little-help-from-chapman-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids wise up about water pollution, with a little help from Chapman students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chapman University\u2019s Civic Engagement Initiatives is taking a stand against water pollution. \u00a0For the past five years, Civic Engagement Initiatives staff have worked with OC Watersheds to train Chapman students as Watershed Education Ambassadors.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, Ambassadors present at local afterschool programs and 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade classrooms on topics related to water conservation and pollution. In Spring 2017, the program reached more than 300 fifth-graders at five elementary schools (Chapman Hills Elementary School, Fletcher Elementary School, Handy Elementary School, Sycamore Elementary School, and Taft Elementary School).<\/p>\n<p>Chapman students in the program create presentations, based on 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade Science Standards for CA Public Schools that are reviewed and approved by a board of OC Watersheds staff.
