Inspired Philanthropy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anna Draper \u201972, and her husband, Gary, have found their philanthropic paths deeply rewarding. Anna remembers her father taking the family to Sunday dinners and choosing another table to pay for. These acts of random kindness made a deep impact on her. Gary\u2019s philanthropy began with connecting to his community by joining a service organization. According to Anna, \u201cWe want to make sure that we help as many people as we can.\u201d<\/p>\n

An alumna and former teacher, Anna is drawn to Town & Gown<\/a> for many reasons: the feeling of family that she remembers from her time as a student, the friends she has in the organization, and her strong belief in the power and importance of education. When her classmate and friend, Sue Lamoureux \u201971, was president, Anna served on the Board of T&G and, since retirement, she has again become more involved.<\/p>\n

Gary is deeply connected with Roosters<\/a>, a local organization that provides hundreds of thousands of dollars in support to multiple small children\u2019s charities. His involvement began in 1990 and he has served as president twice. Chapman and Roosters have provided both with lifelong friendships and a strong sense of purpose, knowing that they are helping their community.<\/p>\n

An Inspired Legacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked what inspired them to create a philanthropic legacy through their estate plan, Anna shared that it was Karen Haren \u201972, friend, classmate and fellow T&G Legacy Circle member. Hearing Karen\u2019s future plans inspired Gary and Anna to consider their own Chapman legacy.<\/p>\n

Inspiring Others<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anna and Gary have chosen to include philanthropy in their estate plan, including a gift for the T&G Endowed Scholarship<\/a>. According to Anna, \u201cEducation is important and the fact that I might be helping somebody who couldn\u2019t otherwise go to Chapman is important.\u201d<\/p>\n

What would they tell others about considering their legacy? Gary summed it up beautifully: \u201cWe want to give to the next generation and leave the world a better place than we found it.<\/p>\n
